  • Check your assignment confirmation carefully for the job location, start time, site contact and any specific requirements.
  • Make sure you have the required PPE. Depending on the site, this may include steel-capped boots, hard hat, high-visibility clothing, safety glasses, gloves and other task-specific PPE.
  • Take your Employ Me timesheet with you where required and ensure your site supervisor signs it for each working day.
  • Plan your travel and arrive on time. Allow enough time for traffic, parking, site access and inductions.
  • If you cannot attend an assignment, contact your Employ Me representative as early as possible so we can notify the client and, where necessary, arrange a replacement.
  • Do not attend a site unless your assignment has been confirmed by Employ Me.

 

Tips for Doing Well on Assignment

  • Be reliable and punctual. Arrive ready to work at the agreed start time.
  • Communicate early. If you are running late or have an issue getting to site, contact your Employ Me representative and site supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Follow site instructions. Listen carefully to supervisors, complete inductions and follow the client’s site procedures.
  • Ask questions if you are unsure. Never guess how a task should be completed if you haven’t been properly instructed.
  • Maintain a good attitude. Every assignment is an opportunity to demonstrate your reliability, work ethic and skills and may lead to additional work.
  • Confirm breaks and overtime with your supervisor. Make sure you understand the site’s break arrangements and obtain approval before working additional hours.
  • Keep Employ Me updated. Let us know if the assignment is finishing, your availability changes or you gain new tickets, licences or skills.

 

Safety on Labour Hire Assignments

Safety is a priority on every Employ Me assignment. All workers are expected to follow site safety procedures, use the required PPE and immediately report hazards, incidents or unsafe working conditions.

  • Follow all site safety procedures and instructions provided by the client, site supervisor and Employ Me.
  • Wear the required PPE and use equipment only when you are trained, licensed or authorised to do so.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately to your site supervisor and Employ Me representative.
  • Do not perform work you believe is unsafe or that you have not been appropriately trained or instructed to undertake.
  • Report all injuries and incidents immediately, even if they initially appear minor.
  • Drugs and alcohol are not permitted on assignment. Workers must present fit for work and may be required to participate in workplace drug and alcohol testing in accordance with site requirements.

When Should I Contact Employ Me?

Contact your Employ Me representative as soon as possible if:

  • You are asked to perform work outside the duties you were assigned.
  • You believe the work or site conditions are unsafe.
  • You are injured or involved in an incident at work.
  • You are running late or cannot attend your shift.
  • Your assignment is finishing or your availability changes.
  • You have any concerns about your assignment, supervisor or workplace.

After Your Labour Hire Assignment

  • Before leaving site, make sure your timesheet has been completed correctly and signed by your site supervisor for each day worked.

    If your supervisor is unavailable to sign your timesheet, contact your Employ Me representative as soon as possible so we can confirm your hours with the client.

    When your assignment is coming to an end, let your Employ Me representative know immediately that you are available for your next job. Keeping us updated on your availability helps our Newcastle team place you into suitable upcoming work.
